Dry heels? Make room for a gentler evening routine.

An evening pause can be a convenient time to give dry heels some attention. Keep the routine gentle and the expectations realistic.

Dry heels? Make room for a gentler evening routine.

Start with a routine you can repeat.

For everyday dry heels, a gentle washing and moisturizing routine is a useful starting point. A rich body balm can fit into that routine if you enjoy the texture, but the product you choose is only one part of looking after your feet. Footwear and avoiding irritation also matter.

The goal is comfortable, consistent cosmetic care. Deep, painful or bleeding cracks are a reason to seek professional advice, rather than keep adding products.

1. Keep washing gentle.

Long, hot baths and harsh cleansers can be unhelpful for dry skin. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends short baths or showers and a gentle cleanser for dry-heel care.

Check the directions for the product you plan to use afterward. General advice to moisturize after bathing does not override a particular product’s label. Lucy’s Renewals directs application to clean, dry skin.

2. Choose a texture you want to use.

Some people enjoy a cream; others prefer the richer feel of a balm. Ingredients, the degree of dryness and personal preferences all play a part in choosing a moisturizer.

The Everyday, All Day Balm contains no added water. It is scented with tea tree, peppermint and a touch of vanilla, and contains beeswax. If you are looking for fragrance-free care, consider that before choosing it.

3. Start small and give it time.

With Lucy’s Renewals, warm a small amount between your fingers, massage into dry, intact heel skin and allow it to absorb. Follow the jar’s directions: twice daily or as needed. Applying more is not a shortcut to results.

Walk with care after application, especially on smooth floors. Make the routine easy to remember by choosing a regular pause in your day; you do not need a complicated sequence of products.

4. Pay attention to the rest of the day.

Appropriate footwear is part of caring for your heels. Notice whether shoes leave your heels exposed or rub against the same area. Moisturizing does not replace well-fitting shoes or individual advice about foot health.

If cracking is severe, painful or does not improve, consult a dermatologist or another appropriate healthcare professional. Cosmetic before-and-after photographs cannot predict how your skin will respond.

Build your own small ritual.
